Sustainability Leaders Program
The program is designed for students from Class 8th to 12th and is divided into two phases: a 4-week beginner's program followed by a 4-week advanced program. The whole program entails a commitment of an average of two hours per week.
Beginner's Program (4 Weeks):
Week 1: Live webinars covering different aspects of waste and its management.
Week 2: Field visits to observe waste segregation efforts and interact with waste generators and collectors.
Week 3: Students select a mission-based challenge, and express its impact and desired outcome through essays, stories, or posters.
Week 4: Students share their key learnings, especially any personal behaviour change, that can be attributed to this program, through presentations or video-recorded speeches
Advanced Program (4 Weeks):
Week 5: Live webinar on understanding the waste management ecosystem and stakeholders.
Week 6: Role-play of stakeholders, presentations sharing their resources, concerns, and solutions.
Week 7: Research on a mission-based challenge and presentation of technological and non-technological solutions.
Week 8: Students develop a website to present their solutions.
Recognition and Incentives
The program aims to recognise and reward students and schools for their dedication and achievements. Students will earn points at the end of each week and similarly, the schools will also be awarded collective points. On the basis of their performance, students will graduate to the advanced program. Students will receive certificates on program completion, and the best-performing school in the ULB will be acknowledged as the 'Sustainability Leader School' of the year.
Partnership
We partner with the State Governments – the departments of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and School Education, the District Environment Committees chaired by the Deputy Commissioners, the Urban Local Bodies and the Schools. We collaborate with Samaj Sanrakshan Samiti, Mohali based NGO working on sustainability issues, to give mentorship support to students at different stages.
