Our school took centre stage as the proud host of this year's Inter-DPS National Environment Festival, "El Entorno," held on the 6th and 7th of October 2023. The event brought together 87 Delhi Public Schools from across the nation, showcasing their commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability.
The festival featured a range of competitions, including an online photography contest and quiz that engaged participants from all the participating schools. For the live offline events, twenty schools were shortlisted. The campus buzzed with energy as 350-400 DIPSITEs from diverse locations like Delhi, Mathura, Noida, Kanpur, Faridabad, and Bangalore gathered for two days of spirited participation.
The school's classrooms underwent a delightful transformation into makeshift bedrooms, adorned with folding beds scattered throughout. The festive atmosphere reverberated with connections, conversations, and performances aligned with five thematic categories on Environment: Entrepreneurship, Fashion, Advertising, Street Plays, and Exhibition.
During the festival's inaugural session on the evening of October 6th, I had the privilege of delivering a presentation on 'My Journey from CBSE’s Sustainability Accelerator Program to the Sustainability Leaders Program.'
In a captivating five-minute talk, I shared insights into my selection process for the CBSE internship, the impactful work accomplished spanning four months, and the transformation of my user study into a research paper subsequently published in an international journal.
Detailing how the concept of the 'Sustainability Leaders Program' emerged while organizing field visits with fellow students, I highlighted its success with around 1200 enrolled students benefiting from the initiative. The audience responded with resounding applause. Post-inauguration, numerous students approached me with questions and congratulations, acknowledging my efforts and commitment.
The following day, I actively participated in the Exhibition, presenting my innovative initiative focused on the use of cow-dung logs in crematoriums. Collaborating with Neh Singla from Class X, we showcased various cow dung products manufactured at the Gaushala, such as vermicompost, flower pots, and earthen lamps for the upcoming Diwali festival. Our comprehensive presentation, accompanied by charts and live demonstrations, earned our Exhibit a place among the top three, adding another feather to the cap of our school's commitment to sustainable practices.
